چکیده

Leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a glycoprotein with a variety of functions in different organ systems. It has great impact on embryogenic stem cell as it is required to maintain the differentiated state of a cell. In our study we tried to find out various molecular features of LIF in human such as conserved domains, important transcription factors, sequence motifs, protein motifs, conserved miRNA binding site and single nucleotide polymorphisms with the help of bioinformatics tools. We also tried to generate a generalized downstream signaling pathway for LIF. These findings could be used to control the expression of LIF for treatment and better drug designing. *Corresponding Author: Abdullah-Al-Emran  [email protected] International Journal of Biosciences (IJB) ISSN: 2220-6655 (Print) 2222-5234 (Online) Vol. 1, No. 3, p. 20-28, 2011 http://www.innspub.net

Administration of Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Increases Opalin Expression in the Cerebral Cortex of Male Balb/C Mice An In Vivo Study

Background: Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a neurortophic cytokine which plays an important role in the neural cell survival. Expression of LIF and its receptor, LIFR, in different brain regions has been demonstrated. Based on evidences LIF plays an important role in the modulation of neurogenesis and glial responses to injury. Up-regulation of LIF after central nervous system (CNS) damage...

Investigation of Leptin, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF), and IL-6 Serum Levels in Myeloid Leukemia

Background: Leptin has been implicated in the differentiation and proliferation of hematopoietic cells. Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) may play an important role, along with Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G- CSF), in the regulation of early hematopoietic stem cells. The aim of the study was to evaluate serum level of leptin, LIF, and IL-6 in myeloid leukemia p...

Leukaemia inhibitory factor in implantation and uterine biology.

Leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is one of the most important cytokines in the reproductive tract. Without expression of LIF in the uterus, implantation of a blastocyst cannot begin. Yet, 13 years after publication of the phenotype of the LIF knockout mouse we are only just beginning to understand how LIF functions in the uterus. This review addresses our knowledge of the role of LIF in regula...

The Effect of Different Concentration of Human Recombinant of Leukemia Inhibitory Factor on Sperms of Asthenospermic Men

Introduction: Leukemia inhibitory factor is a secreted glycoprotein with a range of molecular weight forms, from 38-67kd, resulting from differential glycosylation of protein of approximately 20Kd. LIF has the four a helix cytokine structure that contains six cysteine residues, already known to occur in many hematopoietic factor. LIF is expressed at high constitutive in human fallopian tubal ep...
